What is a lunar halo? Its light being bent from tiny ice crystals in the atmosphere. Sunlight reflected from the Moon to the frozen cirrostratus clouds an back towards the Moon, a prism affect high up in the sky. Same thing happen when Sunlight shins into rain, it makes a rainbow.
